COLLECTED ROOMS —
Mulberry's
Home.
A chapter about learning to design beyond the expected — and discovering what's possible when a room is allowed to have a personality.
BEGININGS —
A different kind
of education.
Before Mulberry's, most of my design experience had been in real estate — transforming and staging homes to appeal to the widest possible audience.
I had creative freedom, but I wanted to learn more about designing for the people actually living in a space.
Then I found Mulberry's Home, a new furniture showroom on Piedmont Avenue in Oakland.
Chad and Laura had created something special. They brought an incredible work ethic, a genuine love of people, and a willingness to take creative risks.
I joined to help with the showroom. Before long, I was doing a little bit of everything.
And that was exactly what I needed.
THE SHOWROOM —
A place
that inspired.
Mulberry’s wasn’t just a furniture showroom. It was an experience — a place where color, pattern, furniture, and unexpected details came together with personality.
I spent my days merchandising, helping clients, coordinating deliveries, and traveling with Chad to Las Vegas Market to discover new pieces.
As projects grew, so did my role. Working alongside Chad, I learned to bring his bold point of view to life.
I began to understand that a room could do more than look beautiful.
It could make people feel something.
Beyond the
showroom.
THE CSL HOME TOUR —
One of the most memorable projects during my time at Mulberry's was a beautiful Tudor residence featured in the CSL Heart of the Home Tour.
Working alongside Chad, we helped furnish and style spaces throughout the home, mixing the homeowners' existing pieces with new furniture, textiles, and unexpected details.
It was an opportunity to explore how color, personality, and thoughtful layering could complement the character of a home and the people living in it.
What began as lessons learned on the showroom floor had found their way into something more personal.
Rooms with stories of their own.
